Yvette Guilbert by Toulouse-Lautrec
Toulouse-Lautrec was a major influencer in the graphic explosion of the 19th century. Known for his posters, fine art lithographs and painting, Lautrec's innovative aesthetic resonated with the spirit of his time and is admired to this day.
One of the best examples of his fine lithography from this period are the complex and innovative black and white series of lithographs produced by Toulouse-Lautrec of the famous entertainer Yvette Guilbert. In Lautrec's massive series of 28 portrait lithographs is perhaps the most probing and innovative portrayal of character and personality in fine art printmaking ever produced.
