Three Poems - Mexico City Personages I by Robert Motherwell
Mexico City Personages I continues Motherwell's exploration of black on white in Three Poems to achieve dramatic effect, this time utilizing the directed characteristics of lithographic pen to create images approaching but never quite reaching the figurative. This work is the third of seven lithographs connected to the poem titled "Return, for Jose Alvarado" and the first of three variations on the image of the same name. The Mexico City Personage lithographs are larger than all other works in the Three Poems portfolio spanning the entire left side and half the right side of the folio sheet (please enquire if interested in all three variations for special pricing). The lithograph is part of an 4 page folio that includes text of the poem printed in Spanish (red) and English (black) as illustrated. An impressive piece in pristine condition for discerning collectors.
