Mexican Elegy demonstrates Motherwell's use of large swaths of black for dramatic and emotional effect which became a dominant theme in his fine art lithography.
It is the 11th of twelve lithographs connected to the poem titled "Return, for Jose Alvarado." The lithograph is part of a 4 page folio with text of the poem printed in Spanish (red) and English (black) as illustrated. An impressive piece in pristine condition for discerning collectors.

Taken directly from deluxe bound book of prints as a four page folio without frame or manipulation. Comes with complete provenance including copy of colophon signed by Robert Motherwell and Octavio Paz.
