The Horse, the Hessian and the Clown by Henri Matisse

The Hessian Horse is displayed in spectacular vivid color bowing to the crowd in this unique five color lithograph extending Matisse' portrayal of the circus. Using the walls of his studio like a huge canvas, Matisse strategically placed his characteristic organic cut out shapes and figures  (as wonderfully seen in this image) from which stencils were created for graphic production by printing assistants.
