The Codomas by Henri Matisse
The famous trapeze act of the Codomas is portrayed using contrasting colors and shapes with diagonal rectangular shapes of the trapeze at the top half of the image and the small black rectangles at the bottom half representing the safety net for the intrepid acrobats. The organic shapes evoke the arabesque form and motion of the trapeze artists high above the crowd observing in amazement.
