On the Stone 2 by Francoise Gilot

The second of 12 lithographs shows a rhythmic interplay of four human figures as if floating or suspended in and above water, symbolized by blue figures below a well demarcated line. Using organic contrasting shapes, strategically black in color, contributes to the ovoid flow of the image. The image corresponds to Francoise' poem likening the Night club atmosphere to swimming in an aquarium upside down.
