Jardin a Beyrouth by Jean Carzou
Jean Carzou of Armenian origin witnessed the genocide and destruction of World War and economic hardship. A prolific artist in all mediums, including lithography, his meditative works reflect the serious concerns that surrounded his life and times. This lithograph produced in 1959, the same year as his first exhibition in New York heralding his successful introduction to the American market and is an excellent example of his creative talent as a color lithographer using an intriguing mix of green tones (a color which he favored at this time) with his unique aesthetic. This is an excellent entry level investment piece of an artist who continues to attract significant interest from collectors.
