Forms 1 by Henri Matisse
Titled simply as "Forms" this work is a continuation of Matisse' exploration of the arabesque female form pursued over his entire career as an artist. Recalling Ingres' use of the plumb line in his paintings, Matisse writes "the vertical is in my spirit" and that "around this fictive line the arabesque evolves."
