Yvette Guilbert by Jules Cheret
Jules Cheret' innovative use of the chromolithograph transformed the city scape in the late 19th century making him the father of the color lithographic poster. His innovative posters were a regular feature in Le Courrier Francais published as black and white lithographs, with frequent inserts of full color versions that were very popular. The famous French singer Yvette Guilbert was the subject of numerous lithographic creations by Cheret and Toulouse-Lautrec.
